*In no particular order
1. NewMarket Corporation
I love this spot because it sits above the James River. You can take pictures in front of the building or out on the grass with the city in the background. This would also be a great place to have a picnic to watch the sunset.
2. Belle Isle/ Brown’s Island
Richmond is known for the James River so this has to be your list as a place to take photos and take in the scenic views. Right across from Belle Isle is Brown’s Island which is popular for hosting festivals and is great for walking and running trails.
3. VMFA
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts looks as amazing on the inside as it does outside. It’s free entry so feel free to get some pictures anywhere on the grounds.
4. Maymont
A popular place to go with friends and family, it has a petting zoo and beautiful flowers and plants. During the summer there is a waterfall that runs through the center of the park that is great for pictures and also very refreshing during the hot summer. It is also completely free to roam around and pet the animals.
5. Rocketts Landing
This is a great spot to see the skyline of the city and chill by the water with friends. Most of the time you would see people playing beach volleyball in front of The Boathouse Restaurant or fishing by the river.
6. Carytown
Hands down one of the most colorful spots in Richmond. This area hits every color on the color wheel and is known for having some of the best restaurants in the city.
7. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens
This place is beautiful no matter what season you go. They have an array of different flowers and plants and many interesting exhibits. They do have a $15 entrance fee.
8. Libby Hill Park
This is THE place in Richmond to see the sunset. It’s a beautiful park that has a view of Richmond and the James River.
9. Shockoe Bottom
This place is home to some great restaurants in Richmond, along with some of the best bars and clubs in the city. Walk down to canal walk (middle picture) and you’ll find tons of murals to look at and pose next to.
10. Monument Ave
Monument Avenue has some beautiful homes and trees and is known for its historic monuments.
